Facial Recognition Check-in at Marriott China

Postby Lushh » 20 Jun 2019, 00:57

Marriott International in partnership with Alibaba Group introduced facial recognition technology for guest check-in at two locations in Hangzhou and Sanya. The announcement was made late last year that the technology will be tested at these properties before being made available on a global scale.

The facial recognition kiosks are capable of verifying identity, pulling up reservations, conducting check-ins, and dispensing room keys.

...because they are working with powers beyond that which we can imagine :) It could be a tough (and possibly fruitless) task trying to trick this technology but some are brazen enough to give it a shot.

Yeah, I don't doubt this is already in the minds of some. I read where researchers used infrared LEDs on a baseball cap and were able to obscure the wearer's identity. This of course is quite the extreme.
