Would you go for a driverless car?

Postby suny » 20 Jun 2019, 17:04

You must be aware that Waymo Company is developing/testing self-driving cars which are suppose to hit the markets by next year. I am an Indian so I will not be able to buy one as our government has refused this technology in India. My question is if you get a chance to own one, would you be comfortable sitting in such a car?

I'm on the fence for now. IDK it's a fantastic thing but I'm new to driving and kind of prefer to be in control.

Great! I am not allowed to use one in India but even if I was, I would stay away from this particular technology in my country. I don't think, the sensors in the car would get proper signals in such a crowded country.

They are great innovations, but I don't think I can trust a machine enough to put my life in it's hands. No matter how good the technology becomes, I'll still have doubts about it.

I didn't see this post until I posted mine :?

But I am already looking into owning a Tesla, which can be driverless, but also eco-friendly!

I think one main issue is going to be the idea of "The Trolley Problem" - if there's an accident, is it going to go towards one person or a group of 5? How does the vehicle value a life? What does it do to avoid an accident?

My post brings up the issues about airlines though if you're interested in the read.
