I just read an article by Todd Haselton on CNBC, talking about a room scanning device he found on Amazon. Apparently following numerous reports of Airbnb hosts spying on guests and cameras in hotel rooms has piqued his interest in something like this.

Some time ago, The New York Times carried a story that a lady was caught with one such device at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort. According to Mr. Haselton, it was after this he went searching for a cheap alternative.

This RF detector is being sold on Amazon and advertised as a wireless anti-spy tool, capable of picking up a lot of intrusion. He said he paid $70 for his but I just saw it on Amazon for $59.49. Read the CNBC article below to see how he went about using it and what he accomplished.

Many hotels employers add hidden camera for taking photos and so they can sell it later or blackmail guests.

I have read that not only hotels but trial rooms in malls and even bathrooms of ladies hostels have such kind of hidden cameras so I am sure this gadget will prove helpful for detecting hidden devices.

Yes, I saw on the news recently that one was found in a ladies restroom. It's too bad that people have to walk around with gadgets to make sure they are not being watched.

Yes, even a pen can have a recorder on it and some people use these in private offices and such. I know about the glasses too but if it's only on the beach that they are being used it's probably not too bad. When they start putting these cams in bathrooms now that's too much.

The world is full of perverts and companies like Amazon cater to their needs, I am terribly scared when I stay in a hotel or use a trial room in a garment shop. Where are our values? Its a sad world we are living in these days.

I hate those hidden cameras, thus a detector would be a good tool to benefit the users .

I just thought of something that the detectors will be good until someone comes up with a device to block them from detecting anything. :? We can't rule it out either because so far they've been thinking up the unthinkable.

This is hard to make and it would not be released for public. Imagine how many robberys would we have.

I wasn't thinking it would be released to public. It was more of me thinking from a criminal mind  I couldn't even imagine some of what has already happened without the help of such a device.

I think there are many public areas or toilets have these kinds of hidden cameras, and no device is fully effective of detecting any of these kinds of hidden cameras

If you check some specialized stores for such things you can find many cameras hidden in different normal stuff and many of them you can access wireless.

While others are using it to make no consent celebrity porn. That's why some celebs got scandals that they are not aware of.

You know what hidden cameras wont really scare me because I am not breaking any law. So whenever I see one, I just ignore it since I am not suspicious.

those hidden cameras existed can harm our privacy in our daily life so I want to protest this kind of instrument exists in our society and should set laws that have very high penalty to those people using hidden cameras

Sometimes they put them in stores, etc., to protect against theft. Used in this way it's allowed but yes, creeps will place them in women's restrooms and in people's bedrooms where it's off limits. There's usually a penalty for that because there's no justification as to why it should be in this place. What could they be protecting in the toilet?
