I am really sad that 2d is dead

Postby Netherrealmer » 21 Jul 2019, 13:26

Japan is the only one that makes 2d because the Japanese are more nostalgic with Anime but in case of the US, Disney stopped making hand drawn animation all together, most so called hand drawn tv series on tv in the US are actually 2.5 d, its basically 3d that designed to look 2d. Videogames and animation studios said 2d is more time consuming and expensive than CGI. I love 2d but all cartoons in the US are now 3d.

Hand drawn animation is replaced by 3d and flash.

At least Japan keeps it alive with Anime but most anime stopped using paper, they now use photoshop to draw,

I suppose sometimes, we do have to adopt to changes. Yet some old things too need to be carried over, as they have their own charisma and appeal.

I agree I love the old Disney movies, and cartoons.
I also miss the old NES, Sega , and Super Nintendo games and graphics.
Some people still make and release new 2D games for PC and mobile.
But I do miss those games.
I think there should be like a retro console that makes new 2D games.

That is great Japan keeps it alive with Anime at least.

Flash loose their affect. Soon it will be replaced with HTML5.

My elder daughter is getting ready for her college life coming June. And she is opting for a Design course in Animation, games and movie making. She loves the 2d thing and loves to draw on paper. Though she is quick with adapting to the new technology advancements as a demand for her field, her first love still lies with 2d and the drawings on pen and paper. A few in her generations too feel the same. So, hopefully some of these youngsters will keep the thing alive for some more.

I guess that using paper to draw, transfer the anime to visual takes a lot time and not cost effective. That is why 2d had rest in peace but jonestly speaking, 2d is nostalgic, especially those 1980s game
