Will Linux stay open source?

Postby mrki444 » 10 Oct 2019, 09:45

Linux was always synonym for open source software. This is First time when they will lock something. Linus Torwald announce Linux will have option to lock down kernel. It can be unlock but you will need little more technical knowledge. Many people already have idea that this is First step in locking down this system even more in future.

Does it mean Linux will be closed system like Windows in future?

I am aware of Open Source Operating Systems and Softwares. However, I do not have much idea about this update. May be a few features of Linux could be put under special controls, but broader distribution could still be open source.
And I think many folks might get back to Microsoft if Linux does not remains Open Source.

It is very similar process for installation. Also, for other programs you don't have to download setup for each. There is center from where you can install everything you need.

From what I have heard,it looks like that Microsoft is going to acquire Linux but at the same time Linux kernel developers and Linus Torvalds have made it clear Linux cannot be controlled fully because of the very nature of the operating system, the way it has been developed, and its GPL2 open-source licensing.

How much of it is true, only time will tell.

Dreamweaver is not open source program. It is Adobe product which we should pay.

I have heard there was some kind of collaboration between Microsoft and Linux, or I am mistaken?? May it is a reason.

They invest a big Money into it. They will earn from support. Support will be charged. Check Red Hat tactics.
