Youtube's latest business suicide decision

Postby Netherrealmer » 16 Nov 2019, 10:31

Last year Youtube killed adult channels because they want the content to be family friendly. Now they are killing family content too as a way to protect children due to ftc, coppa and the elsagate video problem.

The creator of Babyshark will lose a lot of money because kid channels will lose 90% of their ads. Adult channels may finally have a comeback since they might get ads again but what if you dont know what to categorize your channel. If your channel is said to be for kids but you dont categorize it for kids, You will get sued for $42,000.

I hope Facebook kicks Youtube's butt now. They are making money making there harder. Influencers from my country transferred to Facebook now after this crap.

Now your channel have to be pg-13 but if it's seen by coppa as for kids eventhough you dont see this as for kids you will get sued. I can see animators quitting youtube after this.

This could be good since kids will be able see ads only for them. To many times I saw inadequate ads on kids chanells.

Kids actually wont be seeing ads because kid videos are now going to be demonetized. Even if your video is not kid videos but the AI seen it as Kid video, you might get sued.

I think this is good for privacy and safety of children. However, the creator will have to more careful to make content for kids. But, even though they do and as fegus1234 said, it would not be monetized. So, I don't know if a creator would want make contents for free.

If your content is marked not for kids and You monetized it but their AI seen it as for kids, Youtube will sue you. This make the arts and crafts channels nervous. They are not really for kids but kids loves them.

This is pretty much the end of youtube the fact that they don't allow games like Doom
to be monteized, and facebook does, just goes to show how dumb youtube is.
Oh well glad I chose to do my gaming on facebook already got thousands of views. and growing.

Now they are also banning fans who just uses emotes on livestream chats because they got accused of spamming by their stupid AI bot and the ban is irreversible.

You have to reach certain views and follower just like every video follower. Many Youtubers are transferring to facebook now after all the controversies of Youtube.

You have more chance for monetization in Youtube with a non English channel because English channels become unrealistically strict.

Youtube is becoming a dark place quite soon. They're demonetizing everything that even has one curse word in it let alone something graphic. It's pretty bad since a lot of my favorite content creators are losing money and are close to quitting due to this.

Youtube now encourages you to curse because they want to get rid of the kids channels. They are having an identity crisis.

LOL. That is news to me. If that is true then they indeed are having an identity crisis. In the past they even ban channels that curse and now they encourage it? Their rules keeps on changing.

No wonder many people are moving to facebook because their videos monetization program is more realistic and achievable. They have no flip flopping rules.

It is funny Mutahar from OrdinaryGamers channel always cursed.
But now he curses and says dirty things lol it's funny
then he says see this is not a kids show! lol

If we can curse on youtube.. i might get back on there.lol
i will put some of my videos on there as well. but for now.
I'm growing faster on facebook.

Sometimes businesses shoot themselves in the foot. They, the dot com business once died off in the very beginning and I wonder what is keeping it from happening again. If you keep getting rid of items sooner or later you have no items or nothing to keep yourself afloat. I don't get it.

I agree with you. Youtube's rules are too confusing. In the past I posted some videos hoping to get monetized when I reach the 10K views. But then when I was about to reach it they then changed their rules. So, I am starting to migrate to another site that is not as confusing as Youtube.

At this moment Facebook is more direct to the point. Also you are not limited to videos on what you can monetized. You can monetize a webcomics you drawn yourself or a meme channel with original memes you created. There is also a monetized Facebook channel that only posts pick up lines.
