Mobile App - Chrome Browser - PASSWORD EXPOSED?

Postby cmoneyspinner » 21 Dec 2019, 14:41

I wonder if someone can help me understand this. I have been getting messages lately when I sign into some of my accounts. It says something like "A mobile app in your Chrome browser has exposed you password to the public. Change it now."

I work on a laptop. (???)

Is anybody else getting this type of message, whether or not you're working on a laptop? I am wondering about my Chrome browser and what can I do to fix this.

Please help shed some light on this, if you can. Thank you.

I looked this up but couldn't find anything. As you are working on a laptop I'm wondering whether it could be one of these hoax messages.

 That sounds like a click bait trap asking you to download their security shenanigans.

Don't listen to them and their "that word Fergus used" but it's just them trying to get in your business. Don't click anything from them or change anything by their advise. No, I'm not getting the messages but I know them. You'll only be at risk after trusting them. Don't do it!

It could be a trap. Run virus scan check on your system, but do not try out the things that this message says. It could ruin their system.

Well I did change my password twice for two accounts. But it happened to me again this morning and I'm like "SCREW YOU!!" I just signed in out my account and didn't bother. I'm just so disgusted! It's Xmas Eve and I just don't feel like being bothered.

So finally, is the problem solved?
And how was your Christmas day?

My Christmas was quiet.

No the problem is not solved. I thought it was but it popped up again the other day. Evidently, it only appears when I try to access certain sites. It's confusing. When I see it I move away from the site and come back later.

Looks like the sites you are visiting have ads that are not from trustworthy sources. Those sources have planted such hoax messages for getting attention of visitors to carry out some nefarious tasks on the visitor's pc on being clicked.

I'm not so sure about that because these are sites that I have been visiting FOR YEARS! Many are reputable and some don't even have ads. :? The message irritates but I work around it.
