Spotify has announced that it will suspend airing political ads beginning early 2020. According to a spokesperson, the company is not equipped with the necessary tools to verify information of this nature.

The streaming giant is not the first tech company to take such approach as it relates to political ads. Just last month, Twitter placed a ban on ads that reference political parties, officials, and candidates. Google likewise, has made a similar decision by placing restrictions on political ad targeting.

Tech companies are all crap. Political people will find other and better ways to advertise I hate big tech. They are such trash. But Yes I think they need to support political ads and even hardcore views. they are to soft and will lose to able and other more hardcore channels.

I don't think they should support any politic party or at least they should allow same conditions to everybody. But this year is this decision. When they see how much Money they lost, they will probably change decision.

Well I do not want to hear Political ads if I just want to listen to Stroke 9 or Poppy. I do not want to heard the voice of any politicians if I listen to music.

I heard that they will still air on certain podcasts that are not exclusive or owned by Spotify. They'll be subject to Spotify's policy prohibiting hate content anyhow.

Spotify must have some valid reasons to do so. I hope that may be Spotify and other similar companies would find some means in future to handle such advertisements.

Yes you can have political podcast that leans for left or right but the ads will be blocked so it will be an equal playing field.

The reason they gave in a statement was that they didn't have the tools to responsibly handle these ads.
"At this point in time, we do not yet have the necessary level of robustness in our processes, systems and tools to responsibly validate and review this content. We will reassess this decision as we continue to evolve our capabilities."
