Podcast

Postby Streamguy69 » 28 Mar 2020, 14:05

Do you think a podcast is a good thing to have? I have a couple friends that have their own podcast and they always seem like it does not take much to run it.Does anyone on here have a podcast? I would check it out just to get the idea of what kind of stuff you would put on it.

You must pick a niche before starting a podcast. Usually a TV show centric podcast is easy to do. Find a popular tv show you like and make a podcast about it, the fans of the show will be your listeners.

I've never had the confidence to set up a podcast and can't say I know much about that space TBH. But some people do make money from it. I recently joined that podcasting site, YKYZ but never seem to have enough time to submit content. Give it a shot and see how you get on.

General Podcasts dont really do well if you are beginner, You must start with a niche, once you have loyal fanbase that is when you branch out.

Would the covid-19 niche make a hit these days? Everybody is talking about it.

Just a thought

I think it is good if you always have hot topics to talm about, and if you are a great conversation starter. I have been recently watching the podcast called Steam Room in youtube since it is uploaded there. Ernie and Charles Barkley does the podcast, and it is really entertaining.

You're most welcome :) A lot of people are happy with the site and it's fairly easy to use. I've heard some podcasters can make up to $200 per week. I've just been lazy to do much on the site because I run out of things to say

The idea of having a podcast is really a very nice and creative one, but the problem is how are you going to sustain it, whats going to be your source of revenue to fund your podcast or if your podcast is supposed to be your source of revenue, how do you expect to monetize it

The advice from @fergus1234 is spot on! I think a podcast is definitely a good thing to have IF you follow his advice.

You start off with non expensive equipment and build yourself an audience. Then you upgrade as time goes on.

I will give you the biggest Podcasts success I know.

Robhasawebsite.

This is Rob Cesternino, He is fan of the game show survivor. He was also a former contestant. After he got voted off early on his 2nd try He created a podcast that recaps and analyses every episode of Survivor. On the early days of his podcast, It is just him and his wife. When his podcast took off, He is able to invite the latest contestant voted off.

After the success of his Survivor podcast, he branched out to other tv reality game shows like Big Brother, dancing with the stars ,Amazing race etc.... He made podcasts for those shows too. Then he decided expand to scripted shows like The Walking dead , Now he also discusses News, sport etc. As his podcasty grew he hired some cohost and podcasts for other niches too.

From a One Man show, it is not a multiple podcast Network. I bet Rob Cesternino is even richer than Survivor winners. He decided to expand to other shows just in case Survivor gets cancelled. Now his future is very secure.

------------

Find a new TV show you like that you know wont get cancelled and make a podcast about it with a partner. Then expand from one show to another then explore other interests.

This is true but I do more than one niches. For example gaming and music
do very well for me. But there are other niches. I just makes shows about the stuff
people like to click on.
But yes just talking about your day or life will not work lol
unless you are a hot blonde lol

Also if any of you want to get paid to podcast.
Let me know.
My company is hiring.

Yeah but exploring other niches should only happen once you have a secure subscriber base. Rob Cesternino is the great example. He stayed patient and started with one niche before exploring others. Podcasts works better too if you have your own website. It took him years before he branched out, Had he expander earlier, he will alienate his subscribers because they don't like other topics.
