AeroMine home wind farms

Postby mrki444 » 03 May 2020, 15:49

Until now, we have always seen wind farms with large blades and on high piers. Some houses had such wind farms on their roofs as well.
Sandia National Laboratories has developed a new type of wind turbine called AeroMine. This is a much smaller form of wind farm without blades. It is 3-4 meters high, so it's much easier to install and requires less space. AeroMINE has fewer moving parts than conventional wind turbines, so it's less prone to breakdowns.
Tests are coming in next months so we will see voltage output and check how useful can be.
This is even better since now ecologists cannot protest like in the case of conventional wind farms where blades are considered to be dangerous to birds.
What do you think about this?

As long as they wouldn't be as noisy and there's no risk of injuries by blades, I'd entertain the idea. We are still not sure yet that they will be more effective. I wonder about the maintenance and cost with these.

Maintence should be much simplier and cheaper since there is small number of moving parts. Almost everything is fixed.

That looks like a good idea. Such a Technology is always so so welcome and helpful. Are the government policies helpful for this initiative?

So far it is prototype. Soon real tests will be done, probably in June. When they go real number then will it see is it good enough and worth.
