Which app(s) are good for online classes?

Postby johnl0626 » 14 May 2020, 01:53

With the new normal in the educational system coming, the normal classroom setting will be limited and will be augmented by home-based schooling and/or online classes.

Online classes may require video conferencing with about 15 to 20 people. Can you suggest some apps for this purpose?

Zoom app. Haven't used it but I heard it can accommodate 100 persons. It's popular and recommended for conference and meetings.

Zoom and you can install it in your mobile device. I have used it a few days ago to set a meeting with my client, and it's easy to use.

Depeds what you want to do. If you just want call students you can use Skype or Zoom. If you want share some files in them with videocalls than you need something with teams. Also, it depends do you work with one group or more.

My husband is a teacher and he is using an App called Classroom but sometimes he also uses zoom. I use Zoom for meetings and it allows several meetings with several people.

I'm thinking of something that can call or have a conference with a number of people at a time and also allows the teacher to share a presentation like powerpoint.

I'm trying out Google Classroom, setting up one class. I'm having problem with zoom when I tested it. But it could be our Internet connection.

Thanks.

Hi,

In my experience Zoom app is highly recommended, you can used it on phone or computer, plus Zoom do have a good reception even internet connection is not so good :D.

Also for project management or task management "Asana" is a good choice.

Cheers!

I haven't used Skype for a long time now. It was good for a one-to-one class, but can it be used in a one-to-many setting?

It can be used in one to many setting. You can share files to but I am not sure will files stay available for download or view after call ends.

Zoom is truly great to attend online classes. That is what we are using to attend campus classes here. We also use it to attend meetings that were interrupted due to the pandemic.

My sister uses different online platform because she is a teacher and she uses these: (1) edmodo (2) google classroom (3) zoom and (4) genio e-learning. Because of the pandemic, this online platforms would be a big help to every students around the world to be able to cope up with the learnings they need even they are just on their houses.

I would suggest using Zoom.In most colleges and universities, the students and teachers would use Blackboard Ultra. My sisters use Google Classroom. As long as there is a stable connection and what you need to do for online classes, then it would be okay.
