4D printing

Postby mrki444 » 23 May 2020, 08:58

Many people are amazed with 3D printing but there is something new on market very soon and it is 4D printing. Usually under 4th dimension we think time but we will not send anything in future or past, we will change molecular structure.
In basic explanation first something will be 3D printend and on molecular level structure will be changed into something new. There are special materials, polimers, which structre can be changed only by light and heat.

I bet soon 4D printer will be often as 3D printers.

so it can copy an origami? I think this kind of 3d printing might be able to make a whole electronic gadget.

Yes. For this things current 3D printers are not so precise and you need to do manual work later. This tech could make it much more simple and you can get finished product.

Huh, that looks really cool. I imagine it's a lot more expensive than 3D printing though.

Probably will be more expensive but maybe not to much. Most expensive parts will be lasers for projection of heat but we have many of those already on market so modification will not be expensive.

4th dimension is time,so I was expecting something ephemereal .But it is just some improvements over 3D printing technology.I haven't seen a 3D printer in real life,so it is a bit difficult for me to visualise its benefits.
