With $400 would you buy a netbook or a 10 inch tablet?

Postby johnl0626 » 19 Jul 2020, 03:51

Here in the Philippines, you can buy a Celeron or Pentium Netbook running on Windows for less than $400.00. However, there are also 10-inch tablets with at least an Octa-core processor that can be bought at about the same price. The more known brand is priced at about $500.

In my experience, it seems the Octa-core Android tablets are more powerful than the Windows netbook. Of there are could be some disadvantages with the Android tablet as well...

So, if you have that cash, which would you buy?

I would buy expensive gadgets if they are durable and their features are worth the money. I do avoid cheap gadgets because they are disposable, especially the ones from China.

10 inch tablet cost around $100 here, I could buy 4 sets of them. With $400, I couldn't buy a netbook. At least $900. I would rather keep the money until I have enough money to buy it.

I would suggest go for a two in one, from Lenovo for this amount. 16 GB RAM, 500 GB HD, Intel 5 processor, keypad+ touchpad works at lightening speed. I just bought one.

I have Lenovo Yoga 4GB, i5 and SSD drive. Excellent experience for 3 years already. Screen on touch, 360 keyboard rotation, dockable keyboard.

In my experience, a small laptop would be better than the Tablet. Tablets are of a limited use and not that powerful. In fact, modern smartphones are more efficient than Tablets.

I will buy a 10-inch tablet. Because it's more portable, nice design, attractive and all

Definitely a netbook. 10-inch tablets are fun and portable, but I can't get much work done on them. I much prefer actually having a computer in front of me when I work.

Maybe you could wait until there is a promotion. This coming 8.8 ( august 8th ) go to shoppee, wait for the voucher, grab it, you can buy your tablet or notebook at a discount price.

The first thing comes to my mind is what is the purpose of buying between the two. When you need it for education purpose with documentation and more features then go for netbook. If it is like leisure or presentation like promoting a product or something then buy tablet. I still think that a tablet is like a larger smartphone.

If it doesn't have a planned obsolescence then I won't be minding it. I will never buy something disposable.

A 10 inch tablet sounds good but I would definitely go for a notebook.

I would not buy a notebook or tablet. I would just get a new laptop.

Small screens iritate a lot to me. I'd prefer the 13 inch tablet as that is the right screen size for me. I also prefer the 17 inch for the laptop too. 10 inch screen for 400 dollars a bit too pricey.

I wonder how clear the camera quality of that tablet is? Many influencers just use tablet cameras instead of proffesional cameras.

My daughter suggested a tablet. I said NO, but your question is making me have 3nd thoughts.

I think it is better on smartphone. Pro users use DSL cameras and influencers still use more smartphones. Also most of population use smartphones. Tablet is for watching movies.

In Brazil, into this price, the best we can find is a galaxy A71, same features of A9 (out of stock in Brazil now). About tablets, there would be the galaxy S6 lite 64 GIGA. About netbook, maybe, but not worth. The incredible in Brazil is an intel celeron 4 GIGA memory and the weakest SSD -64 GIGA- costs 3000 reais (it would be 600 dollars as is the current exchange). For less this price (it would have benn 550 dollars) I bought a new netbook vaio, intel core3, 250 SSD, 4 GIGA memory could be expanded until 16.
