Hopefully, these vaccines should hit the market by 2021.
First, there seems a misunderstanding in your post. Sorry, don't intend to offend you but term "alarming rate" is just a white lie. This is Virus Condition in India summed up in just 1 line.
In a country with more than 136 Crore population, there are hardly 36 Lac Covid cases of which 77% have recovered and went home and less than 2% have left the world.
You won't find media giving this exact news. People are less likely to die due to Virus but more likely to die from Panic created out of it. So called news media (Print & Electronic both) use Panic to mint money.
I am against stupid practice of ranking nations based on total cases. There is no logic in counting recovered among ill people. More logical way is "Active cases" category and for India there are less than 8 Lac Active cases.
Compare this with Superpower USA who has twice the surface area but one third in population yet having much more cases and death rate. Larger the population density more difficult is to maintain social distancing.
As far as rising cases in a day are concerned, India initially had few thousand tests a day. Now they conducting 8 - 10 Lac tests a day. Considering Test Positive rate of 8% (India has 8.63% overall); you get 80,000 Positive cases a day with 10 Lac total tests.
Don't see anything alarming in this. Please name another nation where a million tests are being done in a day as of now. Then we can compare
Now, coming to vaccine - With media creating Panic and people losing trust in government; India is looking to get vaccine from Russia who already completed trials. Indian own vaccine will take at least 3 months to complete tests. Completing trials is not challenge. Challenge is to make vaccine available for all 136 Crore Indians. Not sure how much time will it take.
Better option is to develop immunity. India is land of Yoga and Ayurveda. If we don't develop immunity (not just to Corona but any virus in general), not sure who will.
Unfortunately, Indian bureaucracy is dangerous. When Baba Ramdev came up with Coronil medicine, he was opposed by Ayush Ministry. No matter what happens, ideally it is better to have Ayurvedic vaccine / medicine. At least unlike Allopathy; Ayurveda is not known to have side effects.
