Suggest Any Free but Legit Antivirus for Windows 10?

Postby GuestHu » 07 Oct 2020, 09:55

The trial of my antivirus, McAfee expired and I do not want to renew because it requires payment and I do not want to pay. Can someone suggest a free antivirus for windows 10? So I might still be protected from malicious attacks.

Why not Windows Defender? It is part of Windows, free and it works great for me. I didn't have any problems with it.

Two antivirus software on one computer? I don't prefer that. It can come to collision between those and it slows computer for sure.

I use default Windows defender. It gets my work done. I will continue to use that for my work. I don't see a reason to make use of antivirus these days.

Defender is great for me too. It's 6 or 7 years I'm using it and don't repent. I only complement it, sometimes I consider it necessary, with a standalone scanning free protection tool, as stinger mcAfee, or better KVRT (kaspersky virus removal tool). My notebooks go fine this way.

Most of the commercial antivirus are just being shady and showing random scans and slowing the system down. I don't need external antivirus anymore.

I'm a little surprised at that, do you include the really well known and popular commercial antivirus programs in that? What gave you that opinion?

All depends how much powerful is our device. I noticed the slowing system too, as in a netbook I own there was Norton Antivirus default and since the beginning slowed down all system. But that netbook only has 1 GIGA memory, weak HD and intel atom processor, so no commercial antivirus can run the device. I suppose commercial antivirus works well in a device counting at least with 8 GIGA memory, a dedicated GPU and intel core processor.
