Do you have an App to control the pandemic in your country?

Postby nela13 » 19 Oct 2020, 17:29

In my country we have an app called Stayaway Covid that supposedly warns us if we have had contact with someone infected. I have installed it when it was launched but so far I see no usage of it.
Now in an attempt to control the pandemic the government first said that the app is mandatory, now after some protests, they are saying it is essential and not mandatory. We don't put our personal details in the app, it is anonymous, the only thing we need to do is, if we get infected we write down in the app that we are infected with the code we received and the app informs all the other people who had been in contact with me that someone who has been with them is infected. it never informs who is infected only gives the alert.

Do you have a similar App in your country?

Wow, that sounds brilliant - now if only it could work! Sadly, we don't have anything that advanced in my country. There was one that was supposed to help with the tracking and tracing but I think because they rushed it, it was very glitchy at first. I think they've since ironed out the kinks but it's only compatible with android - a flaw I feel they should have worked to correct.

Yes we have the NHS track and trace app but it isn't as effective as we had hoped. Several people from my granddaughter's school have contacted them with their symptoms and never heard anything back. There is another confirmed case in her school today making 4 people and 35 people in isolation.

This is creative and interesting. This will really help us more. Though I've never thought apps can also, but since you've shared with us, I will make more research

That is awesome. Yeah, they created a covid-19 tracking app here but I wondered why we are not required to use it. Hmm.

We do not have such an app in my country we had a platform where one can call a certain number to report a case that has been found, so the team that has been set out to work on such issues will go out and pick up the person and take him or her to a quarantine center and also fumigate the area where the person was found and also put the people within that premise under quarantine.

It is not as brilliant as it looks, to work everyone should have it and it depends on the person put on the app that is infected. I wish people were more conscious and download it and make good use of it.

Here the situation in schools isn't the best too, last week my son's class stayed at home for some days because one of his colleagues could be infected but thank God he was negative.

That's really impressive but unfortunately we don't have something like that here but I wish we had in my country, cause it would be really great to know if you have come in contact with someone who has Covid and isolate yourself and go for test to know if you also have the virus.

No we don't have such an application, because my country is far behind in terms of creativity, invention, development my country is lacking behind in those areas, so we don't have such an app. But I admire those countries that have such because it helps a long way to minimize the Corona virus affection or detection rate.

Arogya setu is one app that was developed last year when the pandemic hit India. It's very useful and quite a popular one. Gives a lot of information like number of infected in the distance that you choose, if you have been in contact with any infected person and for how long and if you are safe. Other than that it gives all the latest updates about vaccines, treatment options and other guidelines etc. Lately few more apps and websites have been launched to get help around availability of hospital beds, oxygen cylinders and concentrators and medicines.
Cowin is another one to book appointments for vaccination.

Yes, we have Immuni, same story as yours. I never installed it.
I don't know anyone who uses it, so there's no point in trying.
Perhaps it works a little in big cities, but I haven't visited one in years.

India has one known as Arogya Sethu. It warns one if there is any infected person in the vicinity. But one needs to provide all personal details. I have not opted for it.

Aarogya Setu App is a mobile application that alerts people about the danger of Coronavirus. The Government of India launched the Arogya Setu mobile app on 02 April to protect Indian citizens from coronavirus. This app is bluetooth based. It records the details of all the people you come in contact with every day. The app alerts you to danger, as well as provides information and medical advice related to the COVID-19 pandemic, so you can protect yourself.
