Type of TV signal

Postby mrki444 » 18 Nov 2020, 15:53

In Croatia on cabel TV we got new type of signal. With new signal now we have HD resolution of all standard channels. This quality is already exsiting on prepaid packages for additional TV channels.

This looks great, right?

But things are not so great. Every home who have TV older than two years must buy digital receiver DVBT2 H.265 who cost from 25$ to 75$, depends on model. Plus HDMI or SCART cabel.

Why is that needed?
More than two year old TV's don't support H.265 codec so you need it, otherwise you can't watch programs.

Now we have two remote controlers. One for turn or off TV, and second for change channels. This is hard for old people and they can't remember so easy which one if for what.

Grandmothers don't like such changes.

What type of TV signal you have? Do you have two remote controlers or digital receiver?

I never get to experience having cable because it is too expensive. Before I can afford Streaming services I pirate them. Now I am subscribed to different platforms.

Is not actualy cable TV. What is name for classic national TV programs which are free? I mean we pay some fee every month for it but it is not prepaid program. Everybody with antena and TV can watch it.
