New law could be the end of Youtube and twitch!

Postby MysticMoons » 22 Dec 2020, 21:22

This is not good guys they need to block this bill not just because of the bad things in it that give money to lazy people. But also it wasnts to put people on youtube and twitch who stream music in jail. I think they should just get indie and underground songs, and royalty free stuff on a list. And we should all just boycott mainstream music. Well here is a video talking about the details. What do you think? Is this finally the end of youtube?

Yes they have no idea what they are doing! This makes me so angry, you can't put someone in jail for playing music. I am so pissed. I think the bill got blocked. But the fact they tried to sneak this in makes me angry.

This can not be the creators fault. If a song is not allowed to be played then these sites need to use AI to block the music. also it's not a big deal no one buys CDs anymore. It's free promotion. Then people might go stream and earn more for that artist they heard and liked in a stream.

For me and my collegues teachers would be a great disaster :o . Youtube is my main tool when it comes for lessons (well, this year my job suffered a lot cause coronavirus, but what, when it's possible to rekindle?) and it's the best place where I store my e-books trailers and videos. I'm pissed too :x .

ps: I just signed a petition against COPPA

i think a way to surpass this is to use cover versions of the song. Yes they are not copyright crazy with song covers. The streamer puppers never had DCMA problems because he use the cover version of the song.

Yeah cover songs , parody, and beat remakes are all not under copyright under major labels.
Good idea fergus! I hate the major labels so much for putting people in jail Now less people will buy their garbage CDs oh well. Also playing underground and indie bands who are not signed is a way around this

The reason why Youtube is so popular is that you gain knowledge, you develop skills, and get daily dose of entertainment for free. The end of youtube is the end of free knoweldge.

When it comes to Indie bands you can still ask for their permission while others have mainstream contributors, so song covers is the safe choice.

Crazy laws at times ! People who are passing such laws should think, or perhaps they are doing so out of self-interest?

Yes always good to ask permission. Also i saw an interesting add the other day. Spoify played a song for me then said want to play this on mall your shows? Lease it for a small fee and play it as many times as you want. I think that what they are trying to do, they want streamers to pay to use songs. Well of course the big rich streamers can , but small time streamers will not have money for that.. so i guess no more songs. But they know big streamers have money. it's why they want them to pay. They know streamers now earn more than most artists and get more views.

This is what these stupid music companies are missing out.

Because of Tiktok a very old song like "Lemon tree" managed to chart again.

Because of a Youtube lipsyncher and a Parody animator, a romanian song like Dragostea Din tei (Numa Numa) got popular worldwide.

Gangnam style won't be viral if Youtube dancers didn't try to dance it on Youtube.

Their DCMAing butts could be missing out on one of their songs getting viral and making millions. There are also songs that got viral because of Twitch.

Videogames companies now encourages people to stream their games after streamers helped their sales. On early days of Youtube videogame companies are DCMAing game streamers. Now they encourage it.

I strongly agree. Hoping COPPA to bite the dust. Youtube offers so many school lessons: languages, maths, history, biographies (I like to hear biographies in spanish and I love to access to this and that spanish variant) that millions of pennyless students would be seriously damaged together with teachers :x

I remember decades ago, A 22 year old single mom got jailed for downloading a Britney Spears song. She is jailed because these music companies want to make an example out of her. Now one one buys music anymore. They just spotify it, These music companies doesnt want the old days to be gone.

Yes so true they are missing out they need to get with the times and do what video games companies did. I mean for sure they are missing out on free promo. Oh well it will only make less sales for the already dying music industry since most the new music sucks to be honest older music was always better.

Jailed for 1 download? What an absurd :o . What the country? Maybe the song wasn't even available to purchase in that country and it's impossible even to talk about petty, insignificant illicit :?

Music copyright has consistently been a criminal offense worldwide. Significant legal action and fines can be presented, but there has been invariably arising a no threat of jail sentence. The Act of parliament by Throm Tillis labels streaming patent music a misdemeanor which would render to unfeigned jail time. The Bill intends to have plenty of awful entanglements for the content and gaming society. A warning of prison time has never existed in the realm of content designing previously. I personally feel this could infuriate the circumstances forward. In lieu of Twitch being the sole program tumult, Youtube would face identical problems. the goodness is that the proposal is not as of yet promised and could have to go via Senate. Nonetheless, that doesn't make it impractical.

Twitch has been in the Stomp as of Mid this year in May. The circumstances acquired Ill repute when streamers were forced to take out all VOD'S. DMCA issues keep on to be a share of streaming on Twitch. Sadly it may take additional time than we expect for an answer to crop up.

@MysticMoons free promo that could make them relevant to the new mainstream. Geek culture is now the new mainstream and not Hollywood. Lili Singh is not my favorite popular Youtuber but she makes money money than Hollywood stars now. XQC from Twitch makes money money than some mainstream singers. Pewdiepie just got ranked Number 1 as most handsome man in the world for 2020.

They need to let streamers use their songs.
