Languages learning app drops

Postby Pousinha » 25 Dec 2020, 17:24

Drops is an android app to learn new languages or to or improve the yet known ones. It provides both freeware and premium (paid) options. The freeware lets us 5 minutes lessons sessions each one, but we may watch ads to add additional time. Good for pennyless students that cannot pay fees and can't dedicate too much time to the app. The variety of languages offered is really huge, until hebrew, until different variants of spanish (Spain or latin America) and portuguese (Portugal or Brazil). I like the drop experience.

You can find many similar tutorials for free on websites not apps. Also, there is no use if you will not continue learn new things alone, make your own projects and solve problems. Programmers never stop learn about new things. Rare things last long in programmer life.

For programmers is maybe better to go for website tutorials. For languages beginners an app can be easier. For advanced students, aiming to mother tongue, I'd advice both.

It's interesting to see there are many free language learning apps emerging. Each time I look in my Apple app store, I see so many. I say good luck to those who choose to go down this route. It's great that there are so many options out there, paid for and free.

Why it can be? Begginer will work on smaller screen, it will be harder to oriented on bigger code. I would prefer cheap laptop than smartphone for begginers.

It all depends by each student choice. Some students would go better with a large screen, while other with the lightness of a mobile. In the case of new languages, as I don't need to write long texts, I feel confortable using both devices.
