Oracle virtual box

Postby Pousinha » 27 Dec 2020, 16:38

How many of you have yet dowloaded virtual box? This app dedicated to windows and MAC OS is a good way to maintain a double O.S. Currently I only have one notebook quite capable to support another O.S., even as time pass by only 6 giga of memory would not be enough any more. In 2018 I installed in the virtualbox the last release of linux ubuntu (the last considering current year). In the past, I had other devices with a double windows, different release than the default in the machine.

I have it for years but only for some testing purposes. If I need it for something serious I would use dual boot. WM is not abd but it requires a lot of RAM and good processor.

Yes, the defect of virtual box is really ram consumption. But I'm not sure if my old notebooks (7 and 8 years old) support dual boot :?

I have both VMWare and Virtualbox. I run Linux distros inside them for my windows desktop. I think they can be pretty handy when you wish to use the Linux.

They probably do. It was easier on older computers set dual boot than on new. UEFI, EFI mode does more problem with it.

Today almost every laptop comes with the UEFI and then formatting the windows becomes pain. I had to get rid of it through BIOS and then install linux on one of the laptop recently.

Even installation can be problem. I think some installation files are to big for UEFI format or some other so it must be set right. I know Rufus could not be able make boot USB with windows 10 because of similar problem. I need it use Windows Media Creation tools.

This is one reason I am using Gen2 Torrent of Windows 10 Pro and format my USB with it. I get rid of the UEFI and then install it. I make sure to keep one OS which is not on the UEFI. Rufus and other tools are there which can be used.
