digital thermometer

Postby Pousinha » 15 Jan 2021, 00:00

A thermometer is a must to keep at home. At least, in the country where I was born each family use to keep one. I still remember those old thermometers made of glass, mercury column inside and all parents always worrying little children to let them fall, as they were expensive, apart of mercury being dangerous. But years ago, digital thermometers came to solve the long-standing matter explained. As unfortunately coronavirus appeared, even countries not used to a thermometer each household adapted to the new reality. Digital thermometer is confortable and safer to use, even maybe it can't count with the mercury based old thermometer 100% accuracy. Which of them do you prefere?

I have two young children and I have used many kind of thermometers, for my experience the best, more reliable ones are the mercury ones. I have used electronic, digital ones but sometimes they aren't correct.

But digital is much more easier to use, more practical. Also, no touch themometer kids like more since it is not cold or below shoulder like mercury.

Digital will not give you to big mistake.

It depends on what you are using the thermometer for. Is it food?, the temperature of a child in ICU maybe?
Digital thermometers are inexpensive, easy to use since they are so easy to read, they need little maintenance and give an accurate result. The downer is they spoil much faster especially when they are dropped to the ground and the battery powering them eventually runs out.

Most often use classic AA batterys which are not expensive. Like every device, it should not fall down.
If mercury thermometer falls down and broke into piece, it is more dangerous since mercury is poison for humans.

It looks like the precision cost is poison. That's why parents were always worried and why it's never good to leave a mercury thermometer into children's hands.

If it is for a toddler then the Smart Baby Thermometer is a good choice. It is wireless and uses infrared monitors to read data points on different locations of the forehead of the child. An exceptional algorithm is used to combine the information to give an exact temperature reading in seconds.
It is being sold in Amazon.com

When it comes to little children/babies, it's always better safe than sorry. I remember babies feeling not comfortable and crying with traditional thermometers, as the way to measure temperature could be a little bit intrusive. Some digital thermometers are not intrusive at all, they are baby-friendly  .

Yes digital thermometers are more accurate and precise , and now its digital era we have to use digital accessories. And in this covid period , digital thermometers are almost used everywhere , in the shops , in education institutions to check the temperature of people.

It looks like a tiny glass bar (at least, this were my parent's mercury thermometer), transparent glass were the mercury line was visible and stopped at the right temperature point.
