long lasting home electrical appliances

Postby Pousinha » 16 Jan 2021, 16:58

How much do your home electrical appliances last? When I lived in my european former country, I remember home appliances (refrigerator, freezer, washing machine) lasted 12 years, when no more. Yes, sometimes they needed to be repaired, but maintenance was worth. As I moved to Brazil, I heard people complaining about their appliances lasted no more than 3 years. My mother-in-law's washing machine only lasted 5 years and her new refrigerator came with manufactory defects. Point is here we suffer too much from short-circuits and in the case of my mother-in-law, almost all big family makes use of her washing-machine...

The expensive ones are the real money savers. They tend to last longer based on my experience. The electric fan my parents bought when I was a baby still works. Meanwhile the electric fan I purchased 2 years ago for a cheap price is now broken

I bought my house electronical appliances 8 years ago, when we moved to our new house and I had no problems so far.
It is a shame that in your country it doesn't last long.

Gladly, all of our appliances are working perfectly fine. We bought them 5 years ago.

My parent's ones worked properly for more than 12 years and if I remember well, they were german products. Point is brazilian brand appliances are usually poor quality :( My mother-in-law can't afford a good brand like for ex. LG :(

I can't remember ever having a refrigerator or stove die on me, actually. I think my current fridge is going to break that streak, though. It's making some strange sounds.

No wonder then, it does not last for a long period of time. But try earning more so they could buy a high-quality product that lasts longer. They can save more if they buy that kind of product.

My parents died several years ago: this was a memory of the past. Now it's not my parents, but my mother-in-law needing to buy a better brand than what she had until now. She is retired, near to 80 years old and doesn't know about modern brand that in any way didn't exist in our city until few years ago. That's why I needed to know if LG, newly arrived brand, is good for her next appliances (now I know it is and I'll advice that one).

One thing I learned in life is to avoid Chinese appliances. They get broken so easily.

The fact is most home appliances of this century doesn't function effective like they one we were using before. Talk of refrigerator, freezer, television, iron and lot more. Most of our home appliances now doesn't work effectively
