If Browsers have feelings

Postby Netherrealmer » 19 Jan 2021, 14:27

There is a popular webtoon right now called Internet explorer chan. It is basically a comics about an anthropomorphic version of Internet explorer. As she lives the life of an obsolete browser. The main villain on this comic are Google Chrome and Opera.

You will also get to learn what is the browser of North Korea on this webcomic. You can learn a bit of history of browsers and search engine too. You will also find out that at certain point Google offered Yahoo to buy them but they declined. It also will make you learn how technologies come and go.

I think more people know about Internet Explorer from memes than real life experience. Especially younger generations.

I am interested if browsers like Firefox and Brave have a role in that. Interestingly, the first browser that I had used was Internet Explorer sometime in the late 1999 but at that time there was another browser (I do not know if it continued or not!) - Netscape Navigator which had an icon looking like a Lighthouse.

Young and Old Tech folks do know about IE as we do stumble upon Software(s) that are compatible with IE but not with Chrome/Firefox etc, though now most Programs have wider compatibility.
In fact, at times, we have separate big tasks for Browser compatibility problems- where people fix CSS, DOM Parsing etc.
