The most big tech companys are currently at war with governments, politics. Now new front is open on the south hemisphere between Australia and Google.
Australia request Google pays fees to authors and newspapers since they generate news for its search engine. Some say lobbyists from big news companies done pressure to Australia government since those lost money from classic advertisers and many of them fired reporters and keep only digital versions. Some Rupert Murdoch has influence in that since he is owner ABC News in Australia and few more news companies.
Google on the other side don't want to accept those terms. If it pays penalty it is not to big amount. Also, if Australia ban Google from the market it will not affect too much on the Google business side. Google has some other cards too. The Google search engine can be replaced with Bing or DuckDuckGo but what can replace Google Maps, YouTube or Gmail? Who says Google will not pull out those products from Australia market?
In both cases this can have consequences worldwide. Who ever wins who say it will not spread trough world? Maybe all other countries will ask Google to pay fees to their news companies?
Sorry if I made it to long for forum discussion.
