too many windows updates

Postby Pousinha » 01 Feb 2021, 20:01

Did you notice since last year, how windows updates have multiplied? Until 2019, months passed between an update and another. Now, I'm seeing at least a monthly update. I'm doubting the oldest devices can't stand for too long so many updates, as they require more and more resources. My husband decided to disable windows updates for our old desktop PC. I didn't disable updates in my Toshibas (respectively 8 and 7 years old) because obsolete O.S. means vulnerability. What the best option for old devices? Epecially above 5 years old devices.

Well, it is not really advisable to disable updates since they do have a reason. You could use software to remove old update data, like CCleaner. Make sure to download the free version.

My husband makes regularly use of free CCleaner, but it presents incompatibility with one of my Toshibas. I still haven't disabled Windows updates in my old notebooks, in any way.

Updating windows is necessary because it fixes bugs and prevents malware attacks. You really need to upgrade your PC to have better security.

But if you find updates a nuisance because it consumes memory space in your old device, then try installing a legit and good antivirus or antimalware.

Until my Toshibas support updates, even suffering, I'll go on uptading. If a day I'll need to definitively stop windows updates, KVRT, Stinger and Superantispyware free edition would often run the machines.
