Yahoo answers is shutting down

Postby Netherrealmer » 21 Apr 2021, 18:54

Yahoo answers are one of the earliest social networks out there. It has been helpful for many people and was a source of funds during my childhood. Yahoo answers are now in read-only mode, so you cannot ask questions anymore. I am sad because I still use it 1 month ago when I asked for movie recommendations. I think Reddit killed off Yahoo answers. It has been discriminatory to people who want to ask questions on their language because its strictly English and their fanbase transferred to Quora because Yahoo answers had the "report trolls" problem, "report trolls" are people who will report you for no reason and because their admins are bots you will get banned.

Yahoo answers helped me to be articulate in English so this is sad. I discovered how to earn online at age 11 because I asked the question "How to make money online" and I got replies back then.

It is not just Reddit. Most informations people search on social networks.
Do you know when you ask kids to search something like about some king, they don't go on Google, they go on FB, IG or TikTok?
I think in few years Wkipedia will be called tool for old people.

It's crazy to see Yahoo Answers going away. I used to use it religiously in like 2009, maybe? I remember Googling different things, and Yahoo Answers would always have like the top five results for whatever it was that I was Googling. Especially when we would be looking for answers to an assignment in school.

I think it would still survive and continue because it contains helpful and legitimate source links found on its footer section.

If Yahoo Answers goes off, it will be a poignant occasion for all internet users. I used to get answers to questions using Yahoo Answers.

It's quite unfortunate that yahoo answers had to go down like that after it has been so convenient to most people. But that's how life is today you have something and to morrow it isn't there. You will learn to live without it.

I have never used Yahoo Answers. I am sad that Yahoo has been decommissioning their products. I am a Yahoo user and I still use my YahooMail. I still cannot believe that Yahoo Messenger was also disabled.

Thanks for an eye opener. I had no idea that it was shutting down. I used to be an active member way back then and had learnt a lot from it. Will the mail too gets closed? If so, what happens to the users?

Until they became overstrict but listen to false reports, leading to banned accounts. They killed the potential of their community to grow. They also banned foreign languages making people feel discriminated.

Oh, I see. No wonder Yahoo is slowly disappearing in the web world. It won't try to innovate or improve its services.
