Facebook Auto Tagging

Postby talkerbee » 29 May 2021, 06:47

Recently, someone who is not my Facebook friend tagged me in a post. He's telling his/her relatives were engaged in an accident. What I did I blocked those account. I also seen some posts about it. It's another form of hacking.

Have you experienced it? What have you done?

I am not a big fan of Facebook, I have my profile private but I believe some people always find a way to open and read it. What happened to you was very upsetting and I would probably block that account too, it is a way abusive tag someone that is not our friend.

I have never been tagged by anyone I don't know. There's an option in the settings to make it the way you'd like tagging to be treated and I've adjusted mine accordingly. Only friends can tag me and even then this will first come to me for review before being added to my timeline.

I find it rather annoying. Recently, I had two experiences of that AS WELL AS people contacting me via Messenger. When I looked into all the profiles, I noticed they weren't even on my friends list   I'm not sure what's going on there.

Very annoying, that's invading your privacy. I haven't encountered a thing like that thankfully, but I have heard stories of people saying they even get tagged multiple times a day by random person.

I am not much regular to Facebook and my profile settings is personal. But still at times I get messages from strangers through messanger and that is annoying. Facebook accounts often get hacked.

Such incidents can happen on social media. I am not sure if it amounts to hacking.
It can be however a negative social media side effect.
So one has to be careful on the social media.

Ain’t a fan or friend of Facebook tho I have an account on Facebook this will be my second account cause they hacked the first one,so anything can happen on social media just try to be secretive on Facebook what i meant is that some essential information you input on Facebook must be secretive more or less do not input it at all, one of it is your email so try as much as possible to avoid auto tagging.

Very true. It's not necessarily a hack. Once you start typing, a list of suggestions pop up of people you can tag. Someone can easily select the wrong name and include people they don't know in their post. Caution is still recommended on social media, as you mentioned. I know it's possible to stop random people from tagging you by going into the settings and adjusting the tag options.

Perhaps, you need to set your Settings and Privacy in your account. Below is a link that will help you disable people who are not your friends to tag you.

Thank you! I think it's a big help for my personal account since I want that account exclusive with my personal friends, families, and relatives.
