Each camera in multi-camera phone have different purpose. One is for a normal shot, one is for a wide-angle shot, one is for macro-shot... And in one particular model, the fourth camera is for a higher zoom value.

Different brands and models have different specs for each camera.

No, the price of a phone is not the main criteria in this cutthroat competitive era but every company is trying to provide their best at a reasonable rate. For instance, try M12 from Samsung Galaxy Note and see what they give you for $150. Yes, 4 cameras make a difference for a good capture.

There are so many features in all these upgrades but I doubt they are fully optimised.

There is cutthroat competition in the gadget market and each company trie to give the best features and keep improving the earlier ones to stay in the competition. Technological advancement is quite fast and something new is launched in the market in the blink of an eye. And surprisingly there are consumers, the gizmo and tech crazy ones who keep them in business.
I am not one who will upgrade something unless it is absolutely necessary. But I am sure there would be any who would love to have these four cameras for them to have a better capture. Businesses bloom and sustain only when there is demand for it.

Every 2 years I exchange my mobile with latest, Now my mobile have 4 cams, but effectively i am not using.

Yes everyone rushes to upgrade but sadly not many users will use those upgrades They will only stick to messaging, voicing and may be using a single camera.

There could be some reason for Four cameras as one of the replies above suggests. I would have to research more. Also, not everyone purchasing such a phone would need to use all such features.

This craze for upgrades is going beyond control . Even with one camera photos are forgotten the moment they are clicked. No discussions nor appreciation unlike in the good old days where black and white cameras were in vogue and those photos were given a lot of importance.

My Huawei phone has 2 cameras and takes lovely pictures but I have seen the difference in quality of those with more cameras, not that I would buy one, not at the moment anyway. I like taking pictures and would like to improve their quality so maybe one day.

I have a Sony digital DSC H360 camera that produces lovely photos with clarity and it has a few interesting features. I have an account with a photo site where I have received a couple of awards.

Yes, I need, because my online publishing articles jobs need photos. As a lot of time I'm forced to photograph from a long or very long distance (for ex., the birds coming from the river I feed in my large courtyard, in order to not frighten them), I need a smarter zoom only a four cameras featured phone is able to offer me.

No i do not need 4 cameras, i preder tge normal 2 cameras since i do not take photos. However nowadays phones come euth 4 cameras with the same price. Not much difference.

I really don't, my camera's editing features do any and all the work for me, say, if the photo needs to get sharpened, lightened, background noise removal, etc.
