What's in it for paid gaming apps?

Postby Lushh » 05 Sep 2021, 21:08

I often come across these ads claiming that you can earn PayPal dollars by downloading certain apps and start playing. The thing is they seem so pushy in a way almost like they're 'forcing' you to do it. Unlike well-known gaming apps such as Mario where we willingly pay to download and play, these ads try hard to convince you to get the app for free because they are so anxious to pay you. Some of them feature players cashing out hundreds of dollars via PayPal.

Have you seen any such ads? Do you download these apps? How do they benefit from paying you to play? And behind the scenes on your device, is there something else going on? Do you know?

I see these ads...basically every time I see an ad. Very, very, very rarely are those ads "legit". Their main goal is to get you to download and you can 100% bet that their app is full of ads -- which is how they earn (and that's what's "in it" for them).

Basically when you download a game app that promises to pay you hundreds, you can be almost 99% sure that you will never make it to cash out. The people in the ads are paid to say what they say and the payment proofs shown in the ad are completely fake. When you download such an app, you will earn a couple of dollars for the first few days but the closer you get to the cashout threshold, the harder it will be to earn. You will never make it to the threshold because eventually the app stops crediting your account. Say you need $10 to cashout; they will probably make the first $7 easy to earn (for example, you earn $1 per level you complete or something), then once you get past level 7, level 8 will only pay 10 cent per level, and so on. The levels will get harder and you'll be compensated less with the ultimate goal that you will eventually give up and never make it to $10. Every level or every page you access will have an ad that plays automatically which generates revenue for the app maker. So essentially, they are earning from you watching ads, but they never pay out anything.

Long story short, it's all a scam.

I ignore them because they are nothing but scam. Most of them are based from China so they have loopholes against the law.

 I thought I was being stalked but I see I'm not the only one. Lol.

Thanks @kataomoi for the response. It all makes sense what you wrote. I can picture all this being just so. As for the people in the ads, even the way they talk and dress is so off.

I try to ignore them but I can't. Lol. They follow me around and make me see them. One of them offered to pay $100 'right now' just for downloading the app. :lolno:

There are also game app ads where the one in the ads plays nothing like the actual game.

They must be gaining something from going out of their way to mislead people. Why not just make the game like you advertised it would be and gain even more? You put all this energy into telling something that isn't so knowing people are going to find out anyway. :eh:

As if they could have kept it a secret. Pathetic indeed! Having to clone Candy Crush says it all. Now what else will they steal?
