Do we really need a remote

Postby bestwriter » 10 Sep 2021, 09:01

Our tv remoted conked out not once but twice. It has now been discarded and we are happy without it. You just switch on and off manually and the cable (Tata Sky) remote will do the rest.

Do you think a remote is indispensable?

I am not loyal to one tv network and I use the usb mode of my tv a lot for the content I pirated. I also use Amazon Prime and Netflix so a remote is necessary for me. I also needed the remote to change my tv for AV mode so I can play my console.

I better get my remote repaired or get me a new one. I see enough reasons for possessing a remote

There are phone apps though that can turn your phone into a TV remote, just in case you don't want to buy.

I ordered my last TV remote on Amazon India last year.
It is surprising that we are able to get almost everything on Amazon India.
Even I saw Laptop chargers!
It is another thing that my TV got issues some time after that and is still out of order!!

Back in the 50s and 60s we had no remotes in our house so I was surprised to find out that the first TV remote came out in 1950, I have Sky TV where there are hundreds of channels. It would be very time consuming to have to flick through all those channels without a remote.

I spend a lot of money on Amazon and can buy virtually anything I need there. I have bought phone chargers and laptop chargers on Amazon UK and always go for Amazon rewards if the sites I use offer them.

Yes, we do need tv remote simply because it makes the tv easy to operate. I just bought a new tv remote as my old one stopped working.
