Vertical computer mouse

Postby mrki444 » 07 Jun 2022, 08:29

There are a lot of computer mouse models on the market today - bigger, smaller, more keys, lighting, speed ...

Using standard computer mice for a long time and many hours a day is not healthy for our hand, although they are advertised as ergonomic.
I recently discovered (although it has probably been on the market for a long time) a vertical mouse.
The vertical computer mouse, by reading the description, is even healthier to use, i.e. it puts less strain on our fist. Due to its shape, our fist and whole arm are in a more natural position than when using a standard computer mouse.

Does anybody have experience with vertical computer mouse?

That looks too awkard for my hand! I do a lot of crafting and there are certain positions your hand should not be in for long and the one in the bottom photo looks like a hand surgery waiting to happen!

Why can't they make a lap mouse where you can have your hand on your thigh as you surf? I'm not talking higher up! That way your arm can get a rest from being elevated and it's natural.

No, I haven't used such mouse either by myself or at the workplace. I am interested about it and would like to buy one.

It looks much like a gear of some cars. I am interested in this innovation in mouse hardware and want to buy one once my current mouse dies out.

True, but your hand is still vertical on gear and standard mouse. Here is under angle which is more natural move.

For this I would actually remain behind for using the old and more convenient normal mouse for me.

I don't feel comfortable on using a vertical mouse. I am happy with the current model.

For how long did you use it? Just tried or some longer time? I have it now for several months and at first I need to adopt my hand but now it is great. Next personal mouse definitely will be vertical mouse.

I used one for a couple of years and it does work great to release that pressure, but it finally failed when one of the buttons became very stubborn and I had to replace it with a Logitec gamers mouse with programmable buttons and a few other features I like.

What I finally figured out, was to buy a small end table that was 5 inches shorter than the table I have my monitor on and slide it underneath. Now when I reach for my mouse, my arm is always relaxed and does not cramp up.

Working on a New Side-Hustle

Since age is no longer creeping up on me, but rushing in like an NFL ball carrier on 4th down from the 1 yard line. it's very simple.

That is a new and interesting concept for me, even if this post is a year plus older.
I think I might try this kind of a mouse one day, for its better proposed ergonomics.
A good share.

Regular mouse causes carpal tunnel syndrome. Wrist movements put pressure on the nerves. the upright mouse shifts the weight from the nerves to the entire hand and thus prevents carpal tunnel syndrome.

I've never come across a vertical mouse but this does sure sound interesting. I love how vertical mice are designed to be ergonomically friendly and can help reduce the risk of developing or alleviating symptoms of conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome and repetitive strain injuries.
