How to improve typing skills?

Postby Fergal » 22 Aug 2022, 06:54

I have been typing with all fingers for many years. Unfortunately, there is room for improvement. As I have some bad habits, I would be happy to start a typing course that is aimed at complete beginners, so that I can get rid of the bad habits and type correctly with greater speed.

Do you have any recommendations of good resources for learning to type? I don't mind paying a little if it is a helpful resource.

I am not good at typing as I have no formal training. In fact, I started using computers after I left college since there were no computers during my college days. I type at 40-45 wpm though, but I generally use 3-4 fingers only and that too, unsystematically. I would love to learn to use my fingers a little more professionally because when I see my children typing, I feel either jealous or ashamed :)

Hi, there are free typing sites that you can use to practice some more. Some jobs like transcription really require you to have a fast typing speed.
If you practice every day you can really become better at typing. Unfortunately, I keep failing my transcription tests so that ship sailed.

Play typing of the dead, the pressure of zombies killing me if I type incorrectly made me a fast typer.

Wish i could recommend one exact platform that offers this service but unfortunately i never got to the point that this will be a factor in anything i wanted to persue,i think it has been self taught and i have a moderate number of words per minute on a desktop and laptop standard keyboard.During my school secondary days i learnt basics in ICT.During tertiary level it was mandatory that in the first year you get to understand basics in Computers which included Microsoft word, powerpoint and excel.A little bit of designing as well. That has been enough for me.

Been typing for more than 2 decades but I say until now I am not a fast typer. I used to play a typing game before but I cannot remember the name of the game now.

I never went to any course still I can comfortably type 40 to 50 words per minute. It's all practice I believe. 8-)
