SSD will replace all HDD soon

Postby jobless dude » 30 Sep 2022, 09:39

Recently my laptop got some issues. I've taken it to a service center and they explained the benefits of SSDs over HDDs. My laptop is having HDD but they recommended adding SSD as my laptop can accommodate one more slot for storage. They also added to install the OS on SSD and keep using it. In this way, we can see some speed improvements. If you're facing speed issues with your system, just try this idea.

I did the same thing to my Desktop and it does everything faster now, especially bootup.

Did you migrate your OS to the SSD? I like the performance of SSD but cost is a little bit high even for 250 GB

Official Microsoft site recomend SSD for Windows 10. Since Windows 8.1 OS will not be supported from January 2023, we will only stay on two OS - Windows 10 and Windows 11. So every computer will require SSD drive. HDD will stay only for backup disk or file server. When people ask me advice for computer, now I always recomend even new series of SSD drive NVMe/M.2.

Absolutely and it makes using my computer more enjoyable. If you keep a sharp eye open, there are lots of sales that bring the price down to a more comfortable level and if you just use it for your OS and most used programs, 250GB is large enough for most people.

I really like high speed loading laptops. I would go for it when I purchase one in the near future.

I think it will someday. Not sure what day, but some day. My laptop is SSD and I love it. I remember back when redbox was coming out and I thought nothing would replace blockbuster. And then Netflix happened. RIP block buster. But maybe this change won't be so bad.

One thing that is of concern is that the SSD is very sensitive to voltage fluctuations and would get fried if the user's PC is not using some UPS etc. due to sudden power fluctuations.

I think it is great because you can get your pc faster, but there are no SSD that offer you a big storage right now

Totally agree, because the speed of HDD can be beaten by SSD. SSD are also lighter and more durable, but SSDs have a weakness when they get unstable voltages, but that's still understandable
