Latinos are now suffering for Netflix's password crackdown

Postby Netherrealmer » 25 Oct 2022, 05:24

Netflix are really serious with their password sharing crackdown. The first to Suffer are Latin American countries. People there who shares Password with family and friends who uses a different Ip address will be charged an extra fee.

Meanwhile Disney Plus is cheaper and lets you share passwords for free. Netflix is trying to risk and alienate subscribers knowing there are now competition with bigger libraries.

In Croatia and few neighbour countrys are also dynamic IP addresses. My provider sometimes change my IP addresses 3 times in day. I think Netflix need some other solution.

It makes them look cheap, but I guess Netflix doesn't care about that any more. I wonder how they'll implement it though. If I went to my friend's house, I won't be able to log in to my Netflix account? Lol. What if I'm using my phone and I have to connect using 5G? I'm still the primary user for my account, but I can't use it on the go? It'll be interesting to see how Netflix rolls this out in the USA.

I am not yet charged with all the people sharing accounts with me but I heard Latinos are already complaining since they became the guinea pigs for this new system. I just hope this thing will not become global.

Why they don't just set 2FA as mandatory? Username, password plus smartphone verification and it is enough.

So I just remembered that Netflix charges more when you want to watch on more than one device at once. Some people pay premium so they have 4 different screens -- 4 people can watch simultaneously at once. Usually not all 4 of those people are at home. If they are going to change this, then they need to stop charging people premium to get more screens...

Because you only have to log in once. All you have to do is text your friend for the password and 2FA code and you're set until you log out (and then you ask your friend again )

Login, if you are active system will not log you out, if you are not it will. During login, app will generate code and you enter it. If from another computer somebody login with your trick, system log out user from both computers.

Netflix doesn't log you out due to inactivity though. And I imagine people would be even more pissed if they did that since people don't want to have to log in everyday.

Netflix charges extra for people who want to be logged in from more than one computer or TV. If they logged someone out everytime someone else signed on, it would a huge legal issue. People would sue them because that violates the agreement.

Do you have 4K screen? If you don't have it, you don't watch it on 4K than on your resolution.

Great. Many people think they can watch 4k on screen. If your screen have maximum HD resolution, you can't watch FHD or 4K even if your provider can send such signal.
