Windows XP - forever in memories

Postby mrki444 » 29 May 2023, 18:25

Windows XP is synonymous with Windows operating systems. It's been 21 years since it was launched in August, and to this day, many feel nostalgic for one of the longest-running operating systems.

A lot of people used activators to pirate operating system licenses. After 21 years, the activation algorithm for the XP operating system was also leaked. An executable file has been released that can generate an identical activation key to the one you would have received if you had legally purchased an XP license.

Very few people will use this tool, probably only a few enthusiasts, but it is still a reminder of this exceptional operating system that we will remember forever.

I remember having Windows XP on an old PC, I owned the PC too long and should have replaced it much earlier than I did. As a result, it ran much too slowly for my needs. I was glad to change it to a new Windows 7 PC and was not sad to be finished with Windows XP. XP doesn't really have any fond memories for me, it is interesting to hear that other people are nostalgic for it :)

Many people have nostalgic since it was stabile OS, without to many bugs and it supported software. Also on slower computer it did run good. Of course it depends on configuration.
From my personal view it was good since it didn't have to many updates. You could also set it when you will download it or turn it off on your own risk. Latest Windows software become 'popular ' when updates are in question.
Also what I can see when is word about desktop OS, people don't like changes so often. These days even desktop OS start change much often, like they are mobile OS.

For me it was the best operating system at the time, surpassing Windows Vista.

The legacy of Windows XP was a huge huge one.
Many of the ATM s in India needed a lot of time to replace Windows XP.
I am not sure if it has been done for all 100% ATM s or not.

Because of ATM Microsoft extended support for XP even after official deadline because of big players like banks.

So does that means that Windows XP was widely used even in ATMs outside India?
A news for me.

But yes, for such Business Critical operations and that too in the financial domain, it is important to give an extended support.

You can get a little more nostalgic by opening up your Command Prompt and experience a taste of what MS-DOS was like before Windows was even around. Just type CMD in the search box in the lower left corner of Windows. Type help to get started.

Since age is no longer creeping up on me, but rushing in like an NFL ball carrier on 4th down from the 1 yard line. it's very simple.

I remember MS-DOS. I was not active user, but my teachers mention it several time. We did use some software (I forgot name) on quantum mechanics lectures. It didn't have graphic user interface than textual as CMD.

Oh yes😂😭. Windows XP holds a special place in the hearts of many users as it was one of Microsoft's most iconic and beloved operating systems. The wallpaper and the screensavers all all in memories 🤧. It was the first windows I used having a computer 💔❤️
