Would you sell your likeness to be a movie/videogame character

Postby Netherrealmer » 22 Jul 2023, 07:07

Hollywood actors are having a strike now when they got offers to sell their likeness to make a CGI actor AI actor to mass produce movies using their likeness. Getting realistic likeness of actors has been used for videogames for a long time but not for movies. Hollywood offered actors to sell their likeness for life and these a.i CGI models will be marketed as them. They will get a one time time payment and no Royalties. I think the no Royalties part is what triggers them.

AI will basically make movies of them without them filming the movie.

These ladies got no royalties when they lend their faces for videogames but they dont mind since it gave them lots of gigs and make their instagram accounts profitable.

Videogames had been doing it for a long time.

For 10 years Julia Voth was Jill Valentine's face for Resident evil games.

she got replaced by Sasha Zotova in 2020

and since the contract is 10 years, Capcom used Sasha's face again as Jill Valentine for the CGI movie Resident evil Death island.

Helena Mankowska became a Huge star in Instagram, pun intended when she became Lady Dimitrescu.

Hollywood wants to use this technology for movies... It offended a lot actors. I have a conspiracy theory, Nicolas Cage probably sold his likeness already because I find it strange there is a trailer or 2 of a Nicolas Cage movie every month. No way his body can handle all that work.

I will agree to sell my likeness if I will receive royalties.

I would not love to sell my likeness for a one time payment. I wish it was royalties, I would have gladly sold.

Me too I prefer royalities, they can even have the likeness permanently but they must pay me royalties every time they will use it,

A one time payment is just like a rip off considering they would be using it over and over and over again

I think being paid once would make me be on the loosing side, cause to be honest they would be gaining from it as long as they keep using it. It would be better for me to get paid form time to time.

When people say these kind of things, I get shocked. Can a pencil draw illustrations or can a pencil write stories? AI is just a tool that can't fully depict emotions appropriately and would not be fully be able. Emotions are living characteristics.

I would like to sell my likeness for a character which I adored since childhood. A large one time sum will seal the deal for me.

And they would use that your likeness to make money for up to a decade and the one time sum of money paid to you has probably finished.

That would be one of my chances to acquire fame in this life, which I am willing to forego for lesser monetary profits. :D

People don't even care to know what the names of these characters are in real life. Better cash in and make money.

Nicolas Cage just sold his likeness for Dead By Daylight, Aside from that videogame, I think some of his movies now are A.I because he looks suspiciously young.

Nicolas Cage in videogame:

In this movie he looks suspiciously young....

He also made appearance in the Flash as Superman:

Then in this movie he is super old

Dude sold his likeness

Trust me, make up can make wonders. On movie set they have army of professional stylist and they
can make wonders with people face. Also it normal use filters in movies like in social media posting.

Its not make up because he is having more movies in one year than most actors can handle and it happened after his face is scanned for Dead by Daylight

I am not very comfortable with this idea of selling likeness. These are some of the threats that AI might pose if not used judiciously and ethically. There are many new talents who need chance. Creativity would be killed by these things.

I wont sell my likeness if the game have PC release because PC release means, they can extract the character model and make porn out of it. Some celebs regrets selling their likeness.
