How do you find out which program is slowing a computer?

Postby kat82 » 16 Sep 2023, 11:46

Of recent, my computer has started lagging and slowing every time I log it on. I don't want to change my windows since I have saved a lot on it. Do you know I can know which exact program is slowing sono can get rid of it?

Before you start cleaning house, I would run Disk Cleanup (lower left search tool on most Windows) to delete all the junk files and then restart your Windows and see if that helps. But to answer your question, you can hold Contorl+Alt+Delete and run Task Manager to examine everything that is running at the moment.

A viable approach would be running a diagnostics analysis on a computer. There are various ways of doing this. One method involves finding the diagnostics button on the machine and running it.

I had the same problem when I was using my desktop. I could easily know that when I installed a new software or program on the computer.

As oldbuddy helpfully mentioned, if you open your Task Manager you can view the applications running on your computer and see the percentage of CPU and Memory that each of those applications is using in real time. Also have a look through your Background processes to see if anything there is draining your resources. You can also open the Task Manager by clicking Ctrl + Shift + Esc.

Can you please give a little more info on that?

I agree, I sure could not find any Diagnostics button on my machine. Where should I look?
