Can laptop power on without battery if power cable connected?

Can a laptop power on when battery is removed but with power cable connected to power source?

Yes it can, my laptop battery is a bit faulty so i always remove it but can still use it once the power cable is plugged.

Oh great. Hadn't tried it but will do and see. Mine is failed to boot.
