Dell laptops are top and I like that company also. Easy to handle and light weight also. Ask to her to check it out online or offline before buying it.

If you want a sh**ty PC buy a dell :)

OP, search for Asus, the cheaper models, right now it's the best brand in the computer industry ;)

I don't know if she is aware of Neo type as I am using it. It is light and not the small, not that big. Just an average laptop or netbook you could carry anywhere. If you want a picture let me know, or you can search the picture on Google.

@bluegreen Why don't you like dell?

Also, why do you consider Asus the best laptop?

Care to elaborate?

A friend of mine just bought an RCA on sale at Walmart for $69 and it is really sweet. His runs Windows 10 very fast, but no CD/DVD is available. It does have 1 USB port for transferring files and came with some cloud storage. It also has a detachable keyboard to use it like a tablet.

I was about to suggest Chromebook, since many schools have their students used this. My nephew is one and he has to carry it back and forth. He is only 12.

However, I am reading @oldbuddy's comment, I don't think you can find anything cheaper :)

That sounds really cool, but no storage? That's a set back.

Sure it has storage, the hard drive, the usb port and cloud storage. How much storage do you need to surf the Internet, since that is it's primary purpose?

I'm thinking; would a small weight laptop have have minimal capabilities?

If not, what features ensure that a small-weight laptop has the same, or even more, capabilities as a laptop of relatively larger weight?

I agree about Dell. I had a tablet from them and after a little over a year it died and would not work anymore. Of course, the warranty was up so I could not get it fixed without paying a lot of money. So I got a Samsung Galaxy tab and it is still working fine after more than 4 years. I have heard that Asus is a good brand. I prefer HP but they may not necessarily be light weight or cheap. @oldbuddy probably has the best deal.

You will find any brand is going to have failures, but compared to the number of laptops Dell distributes it is few and far between. You never hear much about the good ones.

Based on my personal experience, I would stay away from Toshiba. She might want a 10 or 11 inch; instead of a 15 inch device so it's easy to carry.

As far as cheap is concerned....

People usually get what they pay for. My point is that it can be difficult to find a "good" laptop for cheap. Here in Utah, we might score a deal by visiting a Pawn Shop and praying that we can get lucky. :)

As near as I can tell...
This is the device you're referring to.

RCA Viking Pro 10.1" 2-in-1 Tablet 32GB Quad Core

I found it at Walmart and it's now selling for 79.99 with 2402 reviews. It looks like a lot of people like it!

There is the Razer Blade if you want a light but powerful laptop, although it's not that cheap. If you want a cheap but lightweight laptop try looking at one from HP or Dell.

I would recommend Dell because the current one I am using is not that much weight and its cost effective too. She can try Asus too but finding a good laptop for a cheap price is a bit difficult :|
