How do I get rid of an adware

Postby blair » 24 Aug 2015, 18:45

It started yesterday there were ads playing on the page I work on. Today almost every site I go to even forumcoin shows these malicious ads. They call it adware but the one that infected my pc is yvo warmportrait that's the name of the virus I think. Help how can I remove it

Do you have any anti-virus installed? If so try and update it and scan your PC. Also try and install Malwarebytes and scan your PC with that. Hopefully that will clear it up.

Malwarebytes free - https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/

I also recommend malwarebytes.
You can also make a google search with the name of the adware. Here it is one of the topics i found about it ( malwarebytes is one of the steps to remove it ). I guess the name of the adware is yxo.warmportrait.com

I would recommend you to use Malwarebytes. You can scan your computer while it is a trial and then you will have to buy it.

It is free... forever. There is a premium version which you can have a trial for but the free version is good enough for just scanning in this case. The premium version has additional features such as real time protection.

The virus is too quick to pop some ads on the links you provided and before I knew it the virus had redirected me to another site. This is very frustrating. I think I got this when I clicked on a prompt telling me to update my flashplayer.

Malwarebytes is good but I run Superantispyware right after and it will still bring up plenty of adware. It's so annoying once you get infected. I am very careful about what I download these days. If I get the slightest indication that something is different I will run an antivirus programme.

Malwarebytes is great. You may have to run in safe mode in order to get it updated though. I had to do that once, but it in combination with the free version of Kasperky AV saved me a lot of headaches. I stand by those two. I even bought Kaspersky when Newegg had a good deal. I highly recommend these two.

Is Spybot Search and Destroy still being updated? That used to be a good one as well, and free. It would sometimes catch things that others wouldn't. I used to use it with Adaware.
