Hi all, I have never used Skype but I hear that it is a good way to communicate with people both near and far. Would anyone know if:
Is Skype free for all users of the service?
Is it a reliable service with strong signals and clarity?
Is it sill popular?
What are the alternatives to Skype? Competition from other services

We were using skype to communicate with relatives from another country but lately they decided to switch to facetime so I guess there is the alternative. We are currently love facetime it is much easier to use

skype is best and number 1 for video call, if you have good connections you can talk with your friends through skype calls. Yes its free and paid, both option opened to you.
1. Free if you call skype2skype 2. Paid if you call to any mobile number!

Hello!
I use Skype a lot because my parents live far from me... It's an awesome way to be in touch with the people that we love because we can see them.
Often I use skype in my tablet and I show my home and my yard to my parents. They advise me about everything... The skype is the better way I know to be with them. We talk for hours and seems that they are here with me.

My internet is not very fast, so, sometimes we have some lag, but not always. Normally it works very good!

1. Yes, it's free.
2. Sometimes I'd lose signal. There were times where I could see people but couldn't hear them, or would hear people but couldn't see them and vice versa. Or the it would freeze.
3. I don't know if it's still popular. I personally don't use it that often anymore.
4. I too would like to know if it's any alternatives(?)

Alternatives to skype would be ICQ, WeChat, Viber, Tox and Slack. Of all those programs, I prefer Tox.

Although I have a skype account for testing but I am not into it. Skype is best for those who have relatives and friends abroad. They can chat and see each other. So I guess its popularity will not wane in the years to come.

I am using skype before but I do not use it now I do not have anyone to talk with skype because I am more using facebook to talk to my friends .

For me skype is very useful media to communicate as i communicate with my clients who lives abroad and give me tasks, still it is popular though many app like skype i can found like viber,Imo etc

I don't know if Skype is still popular, but we use it regularly because we speak with our family and friends in the UK from time to time. Providing your internet connection is good, Skype is very reliable. I'm not sure if it's free right across the globe, but it is for us. We're in Botswana, so I imagine it's free for everyone

I do think that it's still the best video messaging application since they were the first of the few who made it possible to talk with other people using their service. A lot of messaging applications are trying to imitate it but it's not the same. For example, facebook has this video call but it hangs up in just a few minutes while when you are using skype; you are able to use it for hours.

In our territory, Skype is still very popular. However, I am not using even before. I found other easier eays of video messaging system.
