Remember your first e-mail account--You've Got Mail

Postby Happyland » 04 Sep 2015, 23:10

Remember AOL. It was one of the first, if not the first, internet service providers and e-mail services available. When a new e-mail was received you would hear "You've Got Mail". I used to use them for e-mail--it was my first one. They were surpassed by other providers who offered a better experience full of features and services. 8-)
Who was your very first e-mail service with? :)

I remember the first time I TRIED to set up an email account when i was around 10, I was trying to play neopets. My dad was terrified that I would make bad decisions on the internet and would not help me, two years later he did help but I was monitored so closely on Neopets I couldn't figure out how to play the game. Somewhere in 8th grade I made a new email after figuring it out and still use it today, I also have a new neopet that I've had for 2 years.

My first e mail was hotmail and sed it for a very long time. And then someone hacked my password and my account, and I switched to g mail. I must say that I am more content with g mail. Their security is much better than the one at hotmail.

I didn't experience that message - You've got mail - because my first email is Hotmail. I was using it for several years before I shifted to Yahoo due to storage considerations.

The first email I had was hotmail. I was given 2 MB. later, it was upgraded to 4 MB. When Google launched Gmail the storage space was 100 MB. I immediately 7 switched to GM. I lost my first email id because I could not recover password and other account information

My first and ever mail is Yahoo mail. I remember Hotmail during that time and I used it too and then I used Gmail when i start working. Gmail is more trusted according to the IT at my previous company. I haven't had an account with AOL.

I think my first email account was a Hotmail. I moved to gmail because I thought it would be more secure but I use the hotmail for my backup address. I think I might have made one with Tiscali back in the early days of being online but I can't remember the address or password so I don't count that.

I remember AOL and CompuServe and that sound when you had mail, that was a long time ago when I had dial up. I didn't even use my built in mailbox that came with my logon provider. I have use yahoo mostly then Hotmail but yahoo has always been a fixture.

My first email account was Yahoo that I created in High school. I haven't accessed it for a long time. I created a new one when I was in College. It was Yahoo and until now my yahoo email address is active. I also had earthlink, hotmail and gmail email addresses. Earthlink and Hotmail are plain but I like Gmail and Yahoo better.

Oddly enough, my first was a Netscape e-mail address back in the 1990s. I thought it was so awesome to have my own e-mail address that I could check on the web. xD When I was a kid, I pretty much changed my e-mail address every few months or more. xD Now, I've had the same e-mail addresses for years and actually rarely use e-mail. xD It's strange how times have changed.
