Before you install a game, you should check on the hardware requirements. I understand that some games need high end video cards but I'm sure they will also run in the ordinary built-in card that came with your computer when you purchased it.

The graphic card it is a very important component for games, but it's not the only one. Before you install a game you have to analyse all system requirements, like CPU, GPU, RAM, HDD space... and even operating system.
However, all games has recommended requirements and minimum requirements... if you have the minimum requirements you can install and play the game ;)

shalitha do you know the specific model, RAM? you have a wide range inside the 5000 series, and some of those cards are still good for games like WoW, Witcher (the first), and even maybe a less res GTA V
Older models with 512MB/DDR3 RAM should still be good for pre-2010 games

I believe any game until GTA IV will run very well there. Since GTA IV came out in 2008,I'll keep my opinion that you'll be ok running games pre-2010. After that I am afraid you'll have to bring setting for too low to play games from a couple of years ago.

Like vcolaco said, If u don't wanna buy a new graphic card, just play agmes pre-2010, it's the best solution. I have a laptop from 2007 with a NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB and it works for me!

yes, you need to check the RAM requirement, motherboard whether it can support Radeon 5000 series. Old computers cannot support plus the PCI slots. Old motherboard do not have PCI slots.

shalitha, i3 / i5 /i7 is more of a branding thing. i3 usually refer to lowest line of Intel processors (not even sure if i3 type is still being developed) then i5 and i7 , bigger the better.

My best advise is for you before getting a new game to check it's system requirements. Most games tell you the minimum specs they need to run, by that I mean memory, processor and graphic's card. It is impossible to tell you all the games you can play in your pc but for what I see it seems to have the specs to run most popular games.

Anyway you should be careful with playing on laptops, first because laptops overheat faster than a desktop, second because with time you will end up damaging the laptop's keyboard, unless the games you play doesn't require the use of the keyboard. But this is my humble opinion and nothing more than that :). From my point of view if you are a heavy gamer you should play in a desktop instead of a laptop.
