Which Camera should I buy

Postby maestro » 27 Sep 2015, 06:43

I am considering buying a new camera that would suit our family needs. I wonder if anyone here have some suggestions of a decent camera but not too expensive.

1. Sony A5100
2. Samsung NX500
3. Nikon j5

Really depends what your needs are just for family photos or you want to take many photos for contest. You really need to do your research on what you think is best for you, because what I use may not work for you at all.

You have to have some type of price in mind and a brand you are familiar, and how often will you use the camera. There is a lot of things to consider with the purchase of a camera or anything, you spend money on.

I'd say you get the Samsung brand or the Sony but would really depend on your preferences. If you like the features Samsung offers or the other way around go for it.

Samsung has an impressive spec sheet, above those "competitors": a nice ISO range (although that enchanced ISO puzzles me), a great shutter speed.
However, Sony is a little less quick, has the same ISO spec, and you may want to keep in mind that maybe you are better served with lens for Sony, in my opinion.

EDIT: I know you mentioned less expensive, but this is quite a competitor for those: Leica T (Typ 701)

All the three cameras are nice and of good quality. You can buy any one among them. We have Canon, hotshot and SLR Cameras . Earlier we were using Canon but now after buying SLR camera, we are using that for all occasions. Pictures taken from that camera will be sharp and clear

You should buy canon. I'm a canon person check out the eos m3 it's a good camera with wifi capability. I believe that canon is really durable and worth every penny.

What kind of camera you want depends on your necessities. If you want to practice photography, I would suggest you to get a SLR or DSLR.If you want a camera just to take family pictures during vacation, you can buy a point and shoot camera (also called compact camera). Nikon and Cannon are good brands for any kinds of camera.

With the advancements in camera function for the newest smartphones, my camera sits on the shelf gathering dust now. I bought a Motorola Moto G (3rd gen) with a 13 Mpx camera and a 5 Mpx for selfies that also shoots videos instead of a new camera and have been happy with it for most family shots.

I would suggest you read the features of the cameras and compare them against each other. Next try them out in the store to see them in action. Focus more on those who are pure play camera makers versus those who are conglomerates and try to make everything.
