A power outage is common in some places more than other places. A blackout will cause you to lose power from electricity. Some outages last for a long time but really any time lost through a blackout is too long.

To fix this problem power grids need to be updated with the use of modern technology and backup energy should be in place to immediately kick in should there be an outage.

Ive experience blackouts and power outage at least once or twice a year.
The benefit for me is that I'm usually on a laptop and if the internet goes down, my cellphone can be used to give my laptop internet (LTE speed) so either way i feel covered.. but its a pretty scary feeling since your only light source (assuming its at night) are candles and cellphone light lol

in my area, power cuts are common during summers.
long back, i used to live in a border town. those days there was quite tension among indo-pak border and sometimes army would carry the drill of complete black out to prepare the citizens for any kind of emergency.

It's rare to get one where I live in South West England. I have been in my present property 10 years and I can't remember ever having one. I remember having them when I was young and my mum would get the candles out. I think my sister and I as children thought it was quite exciting.

In my town power outage is rare, but it can happen from time to time. When there is strong storm outside it can happen that we don't have electricity, but that never lasts too long.

We're currently experiencing a serious power shortage across southern Africa, so yes we are subjected to some load shedding from time to time. It hasn't been a problem in recent weeks, but the beginning of this year was so bad I really worried about our computers, modem and other electronic appliances. Here in our place we are suffering from acute power shortage since a month. yesterday also no power for 7 hours at a stretch and again after 30 minutes power went off only to come back after an hour and lot of short time power cuts in between. Today also no power for 7 hours continuously and after 10 mts again went off only to come back after 30 minutes, 3 weeks before no power continuously for 3 days and a fortnight before that no power for 24 hours . I dont know when this power crisis will be solved

In 2000 we had a major blackout near our capital city, that affected most southern country, and became quite a problem. Security measures were taken, but nothing serious happened there. And we came to hear that it was caused by a stork. Yeah, right.

We have them rarely. Probably once every 3 years at home. The last power cut I can remember was for about 5 minutes at work about 6 months ago. Thankfully they are not that common in the UK and even when I was growing up, they were never really common.

Already yes. Once a company where I had hosted several systems of nowhere went off the air. According to the administration is giving a breakdown in their machines that culminated in the blackout.
But my clients did not care, so I chipped me and I lost some of them.

we have power outages a lot here in my city. in my life I have gone through a lot, the power shuts off and you go outside and when you see other neighbors outside too and the street lights blinking the power is out. I call the power company and they give a estimate on how long it will be until it comes back. during really bad storms the power can be down for days in some areas.

Ive experience blackouts and power outage. Like vcolaço said in 2000 we had a blackout and where I live sometimes, not often, we get a power outage which lasts for 30 minutes or so.
Once I got home very late and took my dog for a walk under heavy rain , as if that wasn't enough a power outage occurred leaving us without the street lights to return home. That was when my pocket flashlight saved the night.

Yes, I have had them before, mostly bad rain, or fallen telephone wires will know the power out , could be anywhere from a day or even longer.

I always keep flash lights on hand , and candles, you just don't know when this will happen and you don't want to be left in the dark.

used to experience the same here in PH but when i bought terabytes of harddisks i invested on a good UPS to save them disk from failing

I've endured many power outages, including some lengthy ones. This used to happen regularly when I lived further out in the country. During one particularly nasty ice storm, we were without power for over a week. It was awful.

Since I relocated, I seldom experience power outage anymore. I think there are some countries who have it often. I used to experience a lot of it when I was still a kid, and I enjoyed it. LOL! It meant that I can go out and play again since it is too warm inside the house.

Oh, yes. Many times when I was in my home country Philippines. What made me mad was when I was in the middle of baking my cake and the electricity is off without any warning. I hated that.
