Effective Virus Remover?

Postby nakitakona » 02 Nov 2015, 07:27

Our office desktop computer runs very slowly. We don't know what is the cause of such inefficient service of that computer.

Is it affected by virus? That computer doesn't have any computer virus protection.

Many has been using that computer. They have inserted their USB to the computer for their files saving.

We have no knowledge on how to clean that computer of unknown viruses. What virus cleaner would you recommend?

I use AVG free as an every day programme and I also run Malwarebytes on a regular basis to check that I have not picked up anything harmful. This seems to have worked for me but I daresay there are people here who know more about it than I do. Darkthorn and Allius seem to know a lot about computers so I'm sure they will appear later :)

I am also very careful about what I download these days but if many people are using the same computer you could have picked something up.

I would recommend downloading the free trail of eset nod32 for anti-virus scanning. Then scan with Microsoft Safety Scanner and it should remove everything you don't need.

If the computer is running slow it can be under a virus or malware effect. I advise you to do a scan online for virus, for that you can use either Trend Micro Scan online or Bitdefender Scan Online:

After that you should check for Malware, you can use Malwarebytes, Superantispyware to do so.

no protection at all? most computers come with default protection when you buy it what happened to that. my advice is to download malwarebytes and run a update and full scan and download avast antivirus. after the malwarebyte scan, restart your computer and scan again if it comes up clear, delete your old restore points and create a new clean restore point. a lot of things could be making it run slow too. Download CCleaner and clean your cookies and temp files if you have not, run the defragment program if the drive is fragmented a lot. you can find these program on download.cnet.com/windows or other places like bleepingcomputer.com

If you want to have a computer for people to transfer files to and from, without running the risk of infections, you should take it off the Internet. What you are doing now is almost guaranteed to get infected.

A PC running ridiculously slow might be caused by malware or trojan. I use the free version of SUPER anti-spyware and regularly do a full system scan every 1-2 months. You can also consider to download CCCleaner so it checks registry and scans your computer for any unused programs that you can uninstall.

CCleaner is more a windows washer, this tool allows you to clean browser's history and to keep the registry clean, it also allows you to manage the start up programs and uninstalling applications. CCleaner is a good tool for Windows maintenance but it does not protects you against Malware or Virus. To be protected against Spyware and Virus you need both an Antivirus and a AntiSpyware.

There are some free antivirus and antimalware on the web although we always have to be aware that nothing is completely free, there are always some data these programs collect but is always better to have them than to have nothing at all.
