I don't think getting a basic "traditional" phone is worth it any more because once they break, you have to buy a new one (it's hard to find people to fix those phones because they usually stop selling the parts). Whereas, you have a higher chance of fixing your smartphone nowadays.

The battery lasts for days (instead of hours) it is a LOT faster and some of the new apps I have are amazing to me. Even something as simple as setting an alarm or calendar item is so much easier now I find myself using them more.

Does the battery last for days even with the internet on? I usually keep my internet off until I need to use the apps that require it (all my rebate and money-making apps), because otherwise my battery only lasts for a day. the Motorola sounds like a good phone, but I don't know how much it would be to get an unlocked one. Also, is it a big one or a small one? I prefer smaller, so it fits easily in my pocket.

It's 2 3/4 X 5 1/2 and very thin. The one I purchased from Motorola directly came unlocked. It lasts for days if you don't use it much, but if you had something constantly running from the Internet it may not. When I want to do things online, I wait until I am home and use Wi-Fi. Even then, I haven't noticed any problem with battery life. They did give me a 30 day money back guarantee, so you could order one and try it. I bought the one with extra memory for just over $200.
