Website that helps you know to keep a program or not

Postby Wysteria » 08 Dec 2015, 23:07

http://www.shouldiremoveit.com/index.aspx

Have you used this site? I haven't downloaded their "should I remove it" tool, because to me it looks fishy. Might not be, but I don't want to take any chances. And it just seems like you could easily enough use the Add/Remove Programs thing on your pc anyway, so it doesn't seem very necessary.

In any case, I like the site because if I'm not sure about a program I've installed on my computer I can look at the website and see what other people think about it and if they think you should keep or remove it. People can write comments, so you might be able to read some personal experiences with it and there is a little bar graph in the corner showing how many thought it should be removed and how many thought it should be kept. There's a search bar so you can search for specific programs you want to check out.

Anybody have any experiences with this site? Good or bad?

They have some pretty credible testimonies (if they are real), but I would be reluctant to download anything to install without positive assurance it wasn't just a gimmick to get into your system. It might be interesting to follow up with some of the experts they list and get it right from them.

In my case I use Linux, so none of that applies to me. I don't have any Bloatware or Malware or Viruses to check and doubt if I ever will.

Since age is no longer creeping up on me, but rushing in like an NFL ball carrier on 4th down from the 1 yard line. it's very simple.

"Should I remove it" is bad and sometimes returns false positives leading the users to remove important software for the machine to work. Personally I don't like the program and I do not use it but you will find many positive reviews all over the internet. The program also returns some false positive results when scanning for virus, sometimes it identifies files as virus while other antivirus say they are clean.

If you decide to download it use it very carefully to not damage your system by removing the wrong files.

when I look at my task manager and see the running processes I research things that I think I don't need. I have never removed anything from the list because really unless you know what the things are you could mess up your pc. I have adjusted what opens on startup to minimize a long boot up time.
