I'll be honest and till date I have not stored my files online. I have a lot of data ( some where around 30 -40 gb ) and I don't know if there is any service that will allow me to do upload such a huge data ( and that too on free basis ). How much time it will take to upload all these data and the bandwidth etc.

I use Dropbox for a lot of files I need access to for myself and the ability to create secure links to give others access, but I still use a USB drive for backup.

I used to use Gdrive and now Onedrive. I tried Dropbox. All three of them are slow to access online but I'm a free user, can't complain much. I let all of my documents sync automatically so I can get to them whenever I need. This is extremely important to me because I am a student :D. When I know that I will need a specific document else where, I'll manually upload it to my Gmail. It's faster than loading GBs of files all together :P.

I use Google drive to keep my freelance writing articles and Dropbox for personal use. It is good we have these other options where we can upload files thru the Internet. Otherwise, I would've bought hard disks and USB drives just to make sure I have every copy I need.

I use dropbox and cloud for the less important stuff, if something is really important I store it on my external hard drive. I don't like to store important stuff online because I don't consider it totally safe, besides you never know who is behind those storage services and how safe your data is on that webservers.

We back up all our files, especially with my husband doing a lot of Graphic Design work. I leave it all to my husband to sort out, but I know we mainly use an external hard drive. We also use cloud, but as it doesn't offer you much free space, we use that for only small things.

I use both dropbox and Google drive to keep my files especially the most important ones. I also have some files saved up on box.net. These three are the main places where I keep backups of everything I consider important to me or things that I might want to go back and look at in the future.

I most burn disc with data or use a USB file or sometimes transfer files between computers. I don't use any cloud services though they are interesting I am worried about their safety like if they got hacked or something so I do it my way instead.

I rather keep all my file on a portable hard drive, or thumb drive for security reasons. I don't use any of those public ones. Yes, they are accessible any where, but so is my thumb drive, and only me can have access to it.

I mostly use Google Drive, and working files in OneDrive. I also keep my important files in an external hard disk.

Thank you for sharing so many options. I will check them out if I need more space. ;)

I keep most of my files backed up on Google Drive. However, I have multitudes of folders on my desktop where everything is very organized.

Wow, how many burned discs do you have now? I used to do that before but I got lazy and I find it is really hard to keep track of the burned discs after accumulating it for a while.

I used to do this several years ago and I was so disgusted all those discs couldn't be read by my computer. If I am going to use my USB, those files are being corrupted. My USB couldn't be read nor the files could be recovered.

True. Not to mention that discs can be easily scratched and there are times that you can end up having a badly "burned" disc. For the USB, did you try to reformat it before you store anything?

I have thought about using cloud storage to back up my files before, but I've never gotten around to it. I do have an external hard drive that I use to back up my data in case my computer hard drives fail, but I realize that cloud storage is more secure. I should definitely look into it some more.

They don't need to be shared, but I back-up photos to my USB. The softwares I make and that I share are accessible via git :)
