ForumCoin functions well when all members actively contribute new topics for all to read and contribute new content. We have been experiencing an extreme shortage of new topics for quite some time. Too many members log in, look around and can't find anything new of interest and log out without participating at all. An alarming number of them have stopped coming back.

We need dozens of new topics to be introduced every day so everyone can find something new and of interest to write about. Every member should log in prepared to post at least one new topic before going on to post your answers on other topics.

If you have trouble thinking up a new topic, use your browser to search for “topics for group discussions” and find thousands of topics we can all discuss. Pick your own favorites. Make sure they will be of interest to a majority of all active members.

Today is August 23, 2024. I will go through the posts for the month on September 23 and count the new topics introduced and who posted them.

When I first posted this contest on August 23, there were 149 topics listed under the default 7 day display in the “New Posts” link. They are all sorted by the latest time and date of any activity. Older topics with new post activity tend to push new topics out of sight as they are added and some never see any activity at all before they are gone.

Here we are, 7 days later and there have been a total of just 45 new topics added. That is an average of barely over 6 new topics per day.. The single member with the most new contributions has only provided 10 new topics in the entire past week. A total of just 16 members have provided any new topics at all. If you have not provided any new topics, you are riding on the backs of those few who are providing the topics you are writing about. The single topic with the most activity already has 19 replies. None of the rest are even close.

If you do any math, 149 plus 45 should bring us up to 194 topics. Thing is, an average of 5 topics move through the display and “expire” from the new post link every day without added content. Even some of these new topics are already about to vanish at the end of their week. The New Posts link is back down to just 172 topics displayed at this moment, including more of the old topics being rerun. At least 20 more of the older topics expired while these new topics were added.

Since I have been keeping track of all new topics for this contest, I am ending up creating this list of the newest topics as they are being added. It is worth taking a look so you can catch the newest topics on the site before they get pushed out of view. There have now been a couple of suggestions to create an added link to display the newest topics sorted by the time and date they were added, rather than the time and date of the latest post activity. This “sample” of such a sort order can give you an idea how that would look although a site link would reverse the order from the most recent to the oldest.

Watch this growing list and catch up on new topics that fly by that you may have missed. Add your own new topics for the benefit of all members. Make it part of your site participation. We all need new topics to write about. The only source of new topics comes from the members themselves. Do your part and post at least one new topic every day. If you are posting content on ForumCoin, you should feel obligated to provide new topics as well.

At times, I feel that you are like that proverbial Superhero or the Savior in some of the action flicks who saves the world or a country when other plans don't work.
May be I am a bit exaggerating yet I think you have done this very valuable thing on your part.

Today is September 6th. This is now 2 weeks since this contest began. There have been 93 topics added in the last 14 days; an average of just 6.64 new topics added per day. We started with 149 topics and as of this moment there are 176 topics displayed under the new post link. 149+93 would be 242 topics except 66 topics have expired from the new post link at the same time, bringing us back down to just 176.

55 of these newest topics have reached the end of the display since the original posting with the exception of those receiving added replies. 13 with zero replies are still displayed under the “Unanswered Topics” link but there have also been 14 with a single reply, 19 with just 2 replies, 13 with just 3 replies and 25 more still with less than 10 replies and most of those have already shuffled out to the archives.

Problem is, the high volume of replies to old topics instantly moves many of the newest topics out of view before they get a chance.

Take a close look at the list above and check out the new topics you missed as they flew by.
Be sure to give positive reputation points to great new topics and replies that add value to the conversation.

We need to average close to a dozen new topics per day to get back to the wide range we used to have available. Be sure to contribute your own new topics as you browse for places to post your own commentary.
